National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month! It’s my favorite month because I can stand on my soap box and promote the message of good nutrition and say, “It’s National Nutrition Month – listen to me!”

Nutrition – there’s so much information out there. Some good, some not-so-good. So, when visiting other websites, be careful. If any website promises miracle cures for your ills, massive weight loss in little time, or the vilification of of food groups, close that page and move along!

The best websites for comprehensive nutrition information, especially U Rock Girl, don’t just focus on diet, deprivation and starvation. One diet does NOT fit all. We know that the key to your health and wellness is much more complex than that. A healthy you comes from a healthy mind, body, and spirit. It comes from setting realistic and achievable goals based on some real soul-searching.

I challenge you during National Nutrition Month to do that soul-searching. What do you want to change? Write down some big goals. Then break each one of those goals into smaller, more realistic goals – some kind of behavior change you can make right away. Then make a plan so that you can go and do it. Go! I mean, right now! Go and do something that will help you get closer to your goal. Then, when you’re done, go and write it down and put a smile on you’re face – you’re one step closer to success!

This month is for you, our U Rock Girls – Let us know what you want to hear about this month and we’ll make sure to get that information out there!

I have been working to eat cleaner with the help of a great friend over the last few months after the birth of my baby 8 months ago. It has been going great and I feel really good but now I've made a new goal of running a 1/2 marathon. Any tips or sites that can help give me some guidance while training?
