It’s Friday! Summer is in full swing and the kids are officially out of school which means we’ll be hanging out in the pool A LOT! It also means that I get to man my post at the BBQ – there’s nothing like a girl rockin’ the grill!
AquaCell Water Exercise Kit: Now that it’s warm outside, it’s a great time to incorporate exercises in the pool. Sure, swimming laps is an amazing full body workout (hello, Dara Torres’ body!), but if that’s not for you, how about running and weight lifting in the pool? This kit comes with a buoyancy belt, a set of dumbbells, and a set of resistance cuffs. Working out in the water is great for building strength, endurance, and cardiorespiratory fitness, all with no impact to your joints. www.netfitco.com ($76)
Fire Wire Flexible Skewers: Who doesn’t love food served on a skewer? They’re so convenient because you can load them up with all sort of veggies and protein and throw them right onto the grill. Well, these flexible skewers are even better. Once you load them up you can just stuff them into a plastic bag full of your marinade before you’re ready to cook. Widely available including www.target.com and www.amazon.com ($25 for 4).
3Floz.com : If you’re planing on doing any air travel this summer, you know that there are rules about toiletries in your carry-on bag – nothing over 3 fl. oz. or it’s taken from you at the screening. www.3floz.com sells products 3 oz. and smaller that can go through airport screening without any hassle.
Dynasty Egg Roll/Spring Roll Wrappers: I do a lot of Asian cooking, so I rely on these large wrappers so I can make my yummy baked vegetarian egg rolls (I’ll post the recipe). Another way I love to use them is to fit them into the spaces in a muffin tin and bake them in the oven until they’re golden and crisp. This makes a great edible serving vessel for any kind of chopped salad or fruity dessert. Find them in the refrigerated section in your local market and in specialty markets.
