What’s on Your “To-Do” List?

Every morning, do you write your “To-Do” list? Does it include any of the following?

  • go to the market
  • take the kids to school
  • drop off the dry cleaning
  • clean the house
  • do the laundry
  • pick the kids up from school
  • walk the dog
  • change the cat litter box
  • make dinner
  • do the dishes
  • make tomorrow’s lunches
  • pay the bills

You get the point.

And at the end of the day, when you’ve crossed off most of those items from your “To-Do” list, how do you feel? Satisfied, fulfilled, happy, energized? I’m guessing…NOT!

Are any of those activites enjoyable? Rewarding? Now, I’m not saying that you should abandon your responsibilities. What I am saying is that you need to re-write your “To-Do” list to include some items that will give your life some meaning.

Check out my “To-Do” list:

  • Sing in the shower
  • Hug my kids deeply
  • Laugh out loud
  • Eat chocolate
  • Send my husband a text with a naughty message
  • Stop and breathe
  • Eat often
  • Love
  • Love some more

Sure, I get my other stuff done, too. Take care of my family, take care of the house, take care of my clients, and take care of myself.

It took a while, but I learned that I don’t have to get everything done in one day; it’ll still be there tomorrow. I’m much happier at the end of the day when I slow down and live my life with meaning.

Try it out today. How will you re-write your “To-Do” list?
