What’s on Your “To-Do” List?

Every morning, do you write your “To-Do” list? Does it include any of the following?

  • go to the market
  • take the kids to school
  • drop off the dry cleaning
  • clean the house
  • do the laundry
  • pick the kids up from school
  • walk the dog
  • change the cat litter box
  • make dinner
  • do the dishes
  • make tomorrow’s lunches
  • pay the bills

You get the point.

And at the end of the day, when you’ve crossed off most of those items from your “To-Do” list, how do you feel? Satisfied, fulfilled, happy, energized? We are guessing…NOT!

Are any of those activities enjoyable? Rewarding? Now, we are not saying that you should abandon your responsibilities. What we’re saying is that you need to re-write your “To-Do” list to include some items that will give your life some meaning.

  • Sing in the shower
  • Hug our kids deeply
  • Laugh out loud
  • Eat chocolate
  • Send our husbands a text with a naughty message
  • Stop and breathe
  • Eat often
  • Love
  • Love some more

Sure, we get our other stuff done, too. Take care of our family, take care of the house, take care of our clients, and take care of ourselves.

It took a while, but we learned that we don’t have to get everything done in one day; it’ll still be there tomorrow. We’re much happier at the end of the day when we slow down and live our lives with meaning.
